Report on Opportunities and Challenges of the Wood Biomass Sector in Kosovo

As a relatively new value chain in Kosovo, the wood biomass production and consumption has experienced extraordinary growth in import, sales and production. Additionally, the value chain for the manufacturing of pellet stoves and boilers has expanded dramatically in the recent years.

This report describes the wood biomass and stove and boiler value chains; analyzes their opportunities and challenges for the indicated rapid further growth, and presents a proposed action plan for the future support to both value chains. The ultimate goal of this support is to boost local production and sales of pellets and pellet stove/boilers in an environmentally sustainable way, leading a decrease in imports, increase of exports, and job creation.
