Women in the Woodworking Industry

The overall goal of this activity is to promote women’s careers and education in the wood processing sector by removing the stigma for women working in wood processing and identifying and selecting fifty (50) women to provide job placement opportunities for at least 50% of the trainees who successfully complete the program.
As a result of the promotion, we received many applications. We had 155 women and girls interested in obtaining a Training Qualification in the Wood Processing Industry, with the opportunity to secure a job in the respective companies.
In close cooperation with the staff of the USAID Kosovo Compete Activity, we have prepared the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the selection of candidates who will attend the Trainings.

Some of the criteria were as follows:

  • Unemployed
  • Gender (women, girls)
  • Age (18-45)
  • Students

From the 155 interested candidates, we selected 50 women and girls who met the criteria and divided them into two Training Centers based on the Training profile they were interested in following.
Since our role as SHPDK was to create connections between job seekers and wood processing companies, we organized and prepared the candidates for internships and delegated them to the respective companies. The candidates were offered the opportunity to choose the company in the city closest to them, as we have member companies throughout the country.
We are pleased to have achieved a result of creating jobs for 25 women in the Wood Processing Industry as a result of the Training Program, supported by the USAID Kosovo Compete Activity, and implemented by the Kosovo Wood Processors Association

A good connection starts with a conversation.
